Time to say goodbye

Today is Kent's birthday and unfortunately we had to pack up our things and drive back to Rome so we can head home tomorrow morning. It has been such an incredible month. We can't decide which place or day was our favorite - they were all so wonderful.

We hope you've enjoyed following our journey. It was fun to share our adventures and photos with you. 

Our advice to all of you is to dream big and find a way to make your dreams happen. We had talked for years about someday being able to spend a month in Italy. As some of you know, I had a serious health scare last fall and we vowed to make this trip happen if I made it through it okay. Although I don't recommend having a brain hemorrhage (really bad idea) I DO recommend making plans to do the things you want to do - don't put them off too long. Life is short - enjoy it!

Capri

We took a boat ride over to Capri on Tuesday. Beautiful boat ride and lovely town, although a bit too touristy. It was fun to see all the designer shops and the pretty people, but unless you are rich and famous (and we are obviously neither!) you cannot afford to shop there. Our only purchase was lunch.

Positano

We drove to the Amalfi Coast on Sunday, and OH what a drive it was! I think I said earlier in this trip that we had driven on the most steep and curvy roads that I had ever seen (near Spoleto). But this drive made that one seem tame. Wow. SO narrow and curvy! Lots of motorcycles weaving in and out between the cars and you had to back up or pull over if you met a bus or truck. Crazy.

But we survived the drive and were rewarded with beautiful Positano. The hotel was amazing (where they filmed one of the scenes from Under the Tuscan Sun). The town, beach and water were breathtaking - SO blue. And the adorable shops and restaurants. What a perfect way to spend our last few days in Italy.
